Mattoon Towers 

Mattoon Towers is a multi-family housing development located at the corner of Prairie and North First Street in Mattoon, IL. The project is designed to cater to persons living independently who are 62 years of age and older and disabled. Portions of the apartment are specially designed for the physically handicapped and disabled. The facility has easy access to parks, shopping centers, schools, medical facilities, and houses of worship.  Dial-a-Ride, a rural public transportation program picks up outside the front door of the facility. Federal Government programs subsidize the rent for qualified applicants. The total project is $14.0 mil and will create 20 construction and 3 permanent jobs.

Haven at Marketplace

The Housing Authority of Champaign County and Brinshore Development co-developed an affordable housing project known as The Haven at Market Place.  The project will include a 99-unit three-story senior housing building and a second 12-unit one-story building for individuals with special needs for a total of 111 units, of which 107 are one bedroom and 4 are two bedrooms. The Developers requested an $11 million EIEDA bond for construction directly purchased by Chase Bank. Other project funds include the use of 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Donation Tax Credits, a Housing Authority Loan, a Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago Affordable Housing Grant, and a seller note. The total project is $20.6 mil and will create 20 construction and 4 permanent jobs.

Providence Thornbury 

The Benoit Group, LLC constructed a 252 unit affordable multi-family housing facility known as Providence at Sycamore Hills and a scattered site development called Thornbury in Champaign. The first site is 6.16 acres at 1301 North McKinley Avenue, Champaign, IL 61821, and is a replacement housing site that received Demolition Disposition Approval from HUD to redevelop into 82 new energy-efficient townhomes.  The second site is 12.12 acres at 702 Cobblefield Drive, Champaign, IL 61820, and is designed as 170 walk-up apartments with newly constructed 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom units. The construction will consist of a concrete slab with wood-framed walls, ceilings and roofs, brick veneers, hard-board siding, energy-efficient windows, low VOC carpeting, energy star appliances and lighting, wood cabinets, and a community building and exterior landscaping. The total project is over $34,000,000 and will create and retain 8 FTE jobs.

Champaign School District 

The Eastern Illinois Economic Development Authority issued bonds for $87, 865,000 on behalf of the Champaign County Community Unit School District #4. The Bond Financed Project consists of building and equipping additions to and altering, repairing, and equipping existing school buildings, acquiring land, and improving school sites including Garden Hills Elementary School, Bottenfield Elementary Schools, Kenwood Elementary, Robeson Elementary, Westview Elementary, Booker T. Washington Elementary, and Savoy Elementary.
